Something to keep in mind about Ajayi trade: Dolphins don't believe he has much left in his knees.
The Philadelphia Eagles have traded a fourth-round pick for Miami Dolphins running back Jay Ajayi. It was speculated that the Eagles would be aggressive as the trade deadline approaches, but no one expected them to trade for Ajayi.
According to Armando Salguero, the Eagles are sending a fourth-round pick for the running back, who had three games of 200 yards rushing or more during the 2016 season.
Ajayi is coming off of a solid season in Miami. Wentz himself is a running threat, and there are also talented and underrated backs in Wendell Smallwood and Corey Clement.
He apparently followed through on that last part Tuesday, hours before the NFLs 2 p.m. MT trade deadline.
Originally a fifth-round draft choice of the Dolphins in 2015 (149th overall), Ajayi has played in 31 games (19 starts) and has carried 447 times for 1,924 yards and 9 TDs.
Dolphins head coach Adam Gase had also expressed frustration with the offense in recent weeks, calling out his players earlier this month and threatening to replace them if they can not get the job done. We could see a timeshare here, but Drake appears in line for touches in the run game, while Williams, who has eight catches for 50 yards in 2017, could factor into the passing game.
