The folks over at 20th Century Fox have unveiled the official first look trailer for the Josh Boone-directed "X-Men" spinoff, and as promised, the film is frightening take on the comic book universe. What's scarier, seeing Arya Stark in danger, screaming for her life, or the familiar sounds of a Pink Floyd classic playing in the background?
Fox's X-Men film continuity is all over the place, so the company can get away with something like this. After watching the trailer, it is safe to say that this might be the first horror genre movie for the X-Men franchise.
So, New Mutants definitely connects to the other film, and we'll be seeing some more popular mutants in future films. And now, mutant fans are finally getting a horror movie.
As far as a synopsis goes, Fox hasn't released one just yet, but we'll be sure to update if we do. The film stars Stranger Things' Charlie Heaton as Sam Guthrie (Mutant code name: Cannonball) and Game of Thrones' Maisie Williams as Rahne Sinclair a.k.a. Wolfsbane. Dr. Cecilia Reyes (Alice Braga), the trailer's lone adult, asks. But that's The New Mutants for you. The scenes in the trailer looked extremely well shot and there is no doubt in saying that Marvel has yet again nailed the art of making a great Superhero Action movie.
It remains for us to wait until April 2018 to whether this passage by the cinema thrillers will be able to regenerate the franchise X-Men.
