Everton's major shareholder, Farhad Moshiri, has said the club's fans "deserve better" than this season's miserable return but insisted Ronald Koeman retains his total support.

And after the disappointing loss against the Clarets, Moshiri said: "We are in a bad moment".

"The four pre-qualifying UEFA [Europa League] and two group games on Thursday's haven't helped". There is mental fatigue and seven injuries'.

Chris Wood's early outings with his new Premier League club are earning him respect from fans who are also basking in Burnley's best ever start to their EPL campaign. "They did everything. There are situations in our ball possession that maybe we can create more but it is not so easy against Burnley", said Koeman.

Koeman made a string of signings during the summer with Gylfi Sigurdsson, Michael Keane, Jordan Pickford and Davy Klassen amongst the big-money captures.

Everton have won just two Premier League games and lost four out of seven to leave themselves just two points above the relegation zone.

Only one Premier League goal so far this season - Fabian Delph's for Manchester City against Crystal Palace - has come after more passes than Burnley's victor yesterday, which involved nine visiting players.

Things do not look like getting much easier for Koeman after the global break as Brighton, Lyon, Arsenal, Chelsea and Leicester are Everton's next five opponents.

"They won the their first game (Arsenal beat Cologne 3-1 in their Europa League group opener, while Everton lost 3-0 to Atalanta), and are in not such a hard group".

"If you lose, of course it is not nice if you have two weeks in an worldwide break and get a defeat today, but that is life and you have to accept it". Good shape, good energy and a will and desire to see the game through - I think that mixture is important. "All the stuff and questions are not in my hands".

"The form isn't great, but he has to have time to get it right".

The mood at Keane's former club, meanwhile, could hardly be more contrasting with Burnley having collected eight points away from Turf Moor already - one more than they managed in the whole of last season.
