After absconding for more than a month, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh's close aide and self-proclaimed "adopted daughter" Honeypreet Insan reportedly surrendered to Panchkula Police on Tuesday, media reports said.
Honeypreet, who is known to be a close aide of Ram Rahim and has been absconding since his conviction, explained that she has been very disturbed and can not describe her state of mind. She is also accused of inciting the rioting by mobs of Dera supporters on August 25 in which thirty-eight people were killed. There were reports that even claimed that she had fled to Nepal where other reports claimed that she was spotted in Delhi. During the verdict, Honeypreet had appealed to court that she may be given permission to stay with Ram Rahim in the jail as a helper, but the court turned down the request. Honeypreet faces charges of sedition and inciting violence.
According to police, Haryana Police nabbed Honeypreet from Patiala Road.
Honeypreet, who calls herself "Papa's angel", had accompanied Ram Rahim from the sect headquarters at Sirsa to special CBI court in Panchkula on August 25. What proof have these people got to level such allegations.
The police, which is making efforts to arrest Honeypreet Insan, had raided various location in order to track her down. "All those who are spreading such rumours, please do not believe them".
Panchkula Police Commissioner told ANI on Tuesday they were ready with arrangements on Honeypreet's surrender. "Crores of women and girls have been empowered by Papaji", she said, rubbishing rape charges against Ram Rahim.
He added that they will also be interrogating Honeypreet about her whereabouts this past month.
The Dera followers have said that Ram Rahim was jailed as he is Hindu and such organisations often fall target to accusations.
Honeypreet, had earlier been booked at Sector 5 police station in Panchkula. He is now lodged in Sunaria jail in Rohtak district of Haryana.
Haryana Police had launched a massive hunt for Honeypreet over the weekend.
