RACINE- A Racine woman who wanted to lay her mother's ashes in Puerto Rico gets caught in Hurricane Maria

Just a day after the president complained about Cruz's "poor leadership ability" and "others in Puerto Rico" who "want everything to be done for them" - none of which sat well with Hollywood stars, especially those of Puerto Rican descent - Trump was busy defending those tweets.

The electric power is still off in over half of the 3.4 million population and the entire island could be without power for the next six months, according to the mayor of San Juan, Carmen Yulín Cruz.

Maria, the most powerful storm to strike Puerto Rico in almost 90 years, has destroyed roads, making it hard to get food, water and fuel around the island. Millions of residents have been without necessities, including clean drinking water, electricity and adequate food and shelter. "I can tell you this: We have done an incredible job considering there's absolutely nothing to work with".

Responding to Ms Cruz on Twitter, Mr Trump said: "The Mayor of San Juan, who was very complimentary only a few days ago, has now been told by the Democrats that you must be nasty to Trump".

"She has demonstrated an empathy and commitment to her people that have taken her to work day and night, very quietly at the beginning,"Duprey said".

The president said 10,000 emergency responders and other personnel have been sent to the island.

"The governor is giving a message that everything is resolved, and it is not true", Mayor Isidro Negron Irizarry said in Spanish on Twitter.

Cruz said Puerto Rico was in desperate need of aid, claiming that the death toll from the hurricane will rise without urgent assistance. And when Kim Kardashian is pleading with Trump to quit tweeting about nonsense and do something helpful, you know things are bad.

In an interview with Reuters on Saturday, Rossello said: "I'm not paying attention to social media", adding "my only focus right now is to make sure the people of Puerto Rico are well". "I am begging, begging anyone that can hear us, to save us from dying".

The opening sketch wasn't the only part of the premiere that hammered the President regarding Puerto Rico. They want to help.

Thursday, Duke stirred controversy when referring to the government's response in Puerto Rico as a "good news story". I nearly don't have words for how repulsive it is that he just suggested people without electricity, without clean water, without sufficient food, medicine, or safe roads to travel on, should be bootstrapping themselves out of a natural disaster.

Like past sketches featuring Baldwin's Trump, the skit contained current events such as Trump's quarreling with San Juan, Puerto Rico's mayor, the resignation of Tom Price and Trump's alliance with Democratic Sen. "If anybody out there is listening to us, we are dying, and you are killing us with the inefficiency", she pleaded at a press conference. That money covers initial request for the hurricanes that hit Texas, Louisiana and Florida as well as Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Maria, a powerful Category 4 storm, pounded Puerto Rico on September 20, two weeks after even stronger Hurricane Irma swept past the island of 3.4 million residents.

"When the president gets attack, he attacks back", Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said, who adding that the mayor's comments were "unfair, given what the federal government has done".
