ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Ty Montgomery's rib injury is not as serious as initially thought.

So far this season, the converted wide receiver has rushed for 152 yards and two touchdowns on 46 carries.

The Green Bay Packers received some good news on running back Ty Montgomery, who left Thursday night's win over the Chicago Bears after suffering a rib injury.

Jones was impressive over the summer, but it took injuries to Montgomery and Williams for him to finally get an opportunity. The Packers announced he suffered a knee injury Thursday, but he will have time to heal, with their next game coming October 8. In the end, we'll have a better bearing on his ability to suit up once the Packers release their first Week 5 injury report Wednesday.

How many snaps the fifth-round pick receives moving forward will likely depend on the health of the other two backs, but Jones maximized his minutes and made a case for more playing time.

Keep an eye on him when waivers hit this week.

Backup running back Jamaal Williams departed in the second quarter with a left knee injury. Jones tallied 1,773 rushing yards and 21 total touchdowns (one passing) in his final collegiate season, suggesting he can be a weapon in red-zone situations if defenses key on Rodgers.

On that note, here are five running backs Packers general manager Ted Thompson could look to acquire. "Could miss next game, not more".
