Jacksonville mother admits to killing 11-year-old, driving with body

West Virginia State Police Sergeant Herby Barlow said Newsome's auto left the highway and hit a guardrail on Allegheny Mountain, about a mile and a half into the West Virginia border.

"I can't even wrap my head around what even would have made (my wife) snap", Plummer said. Police suspect foul play was involved in Plummer's death and they believe the girl died in Jacksonville.

Authorities say Erica Newsome, has been jailed on charges of concealing the body of her daughter, Kaye-lea Plummer.

The Pocahontas Times stated in an article that Newsome asked to speak to the police and stated that she had killed her daughter and was also abusive to her. He said he had not seen Newsome or his daughter in person since 2014 when they moved to Jacksonville. "Her injuries were non-motor vehicle injuries".

Barlow said a couple traveling on the same highway reported seeing Newsome remove a body from her vehicle and drag it over a hill.

"Something pushed her over the edge and she snapped", he told News 4 Jax.

Newsome told investigators that she pulled her daughter out of bed in their mobile home in Jacksonville on Friday morning and put her in the truck, according to the Pocahontas Times.

Authorities got a call around 11:20 a.m. from the shocked tourists, which prompted West Virginia State Police to visit the scene near the Virginia border.

Troopers found Newsome over a nearby embankment approximately 150 feet away from the vehicle in Thornwood.

She shared that the child's father lived in Buffalo, New York and that's where she was driving toward. Later that day, she texted him again saying they were having auto troubles and needed to rest, he told News 4 Jax.

Plummer says he hasn't heard from law enforcement or police since Sunday.

"We didn't always agree on everything, but she was a great mother".

"If she hadn't been discovered [by the couple] I wouldn't have known about the child", Barlow added. I don't know how this could have happened.
