Jammu and Kashmir: 2 terrorists killed in Tahab village of Pulwama

Two militants were killed early on Sunday in an encounter between security forces and militants in Pulwama districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

Internet services have also been suspended in Pulwama district following the killing of two militants. Though the identity and group affiliation of the slain militants has not been ascertained yet, Jammu and Kashmir DGP SP Vaid told news agency, "Initial reports indicate they are from Hizb-ul-Mujahideen".

It is reported that two to three militants are holed up in the area, they said. "An INSAS and SLR were found at the spot of the encounter".

However, local sources identified the killed militants as Shakir Ahmad, a resident of Gulzarpora Pulwama and Shabir Ahmad, a resident of Mehend Bijbehara area of Anantnag.

The demonstrators tried to move towards the area where security forces were conducting search operation. During that time, Police fired some bullet rounds in air and thrown Tear gas shells to control the whole situation and to proceed their search operation. The security forces are going after militants as part of operation "hunt down" and on the basis of a "hit list" of militants.
