Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, left to right, World Bank President Jim Yong Kim, United States President Donald Trump, his daughter Ivanka Trump, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau pose for a photo after the Women and Development event at the G20 summit Saturday, July 8, 2017 in Hamburg, Germany.
Many critics questioned just why Trump's daughter, who is an official but unpaid adviser to her father, should represent the USA on such an important world stage ― albeit for a short period of time. She actually stepped in for her dad during a meeting when he stepped out briefly, taking his seat at the leader's table-a tag-in that's usually done by a high-ranking state official. Ms. Trump serves as a senior adviser to the president. Last night, local security forces again clashed with protesters who set fire to garbage cans, smashed windows and looted stores.
IVANKA Trump was pictured sitting alongside the leaders of the world during the G20 summit in Hamburg today. In the case of the Trump administration, it seems that the president's daughter derives the role of the true First Lady rather than Melania Trump.
CNN's Ana Navarro, a Republican critic of Trump, joked on Twitter, "Given choice b/w Pres. Donald or Pres. Ivanka, I'd take her".
Republican strategist Ford O'Connell hailed Ivanka Trump's appearance as a reminder that "she's one of President Trump's best assets in the White House".
Though Ivanka Trump will be an advocate for We-Fi moving forward, the White House has said she will play no operational, administrative or fund-raising role in the initiative.
When she was asked about Ivanka Trump's role, Nikki Haley, the US ambassador to the United Nations, said the president's daughter sometimes sits in on meetings if they relate to issues that are among her priorities.
Although not elected, confirmed, sworn-in, or even holding an official position within the United States government, Ivanka represented the US at a G20 leaders session on African migration and health. "Might be the only bad thing she has going, if you want to know the truth".
A Russian official tweeted, then deleted, a photo of the first daughter sitting alongside the world leaders.
