The 35 year old singer and former Grammy victor wrote a patriotic tribute on the Fourth of July when she took to Twitter.
"Had a handsome day w/family & I know I was able 2 have it because of the strength & courage of the men & women who have & are protecting us!" she tweeted. But one particular troll, somehow offended by Kelly's tweet, made a decision to simply reply with "you're fat".
Unfortunately, this is not the first time Clarkson has had to deal with body shaming on social media services like Twitter. "I wasn't big, but people would call me big", the singer recalled.
Clarkson revealed in the same interview that she was considered "the biggest girl" when she competed in the inaugural season of "American Idol" in 2002. "I've just never cared what people think", she said.
"There are just some people who are born skinny and with a great metabolism - that is not me". We are who we are - whatever size. "Whatever size, and it doesn't mean that we're gonna be that forever". "I admire her remarkable talent and that should have been the focus of any discussion about her". Like especially me, I'm such a creative person that I yo-yo. Sometimes I'm more fit and I get into kickboxing hardcore.
Clarkson addressed the controversy on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, telling the talk show host that she's used to being criticized for her weight, but that it no longer bothers her. News: "I sincerely apologize to Kelly Clarkson for my offensive comment".
