Anil Kumble's resignation is his personal decision: Ganguly

"If any two persons are thrown together for 24/7 there will be a difference of professional opinion". There was perceptional issue, professional issues. Kumble, India's greatest match-winner by a distance, commands huge respect, and the manner of his departure prompted much talk of an immature captain wanting only a yes-man around.

"Giving veto powers to the captain and players over coaches sits at odds with the direction cricket is moving in", the column said. "We are going for an equally good professional to ensure that whether it is a captain or the manager, so there should be cohesion in the team", he added.

No successful sporting organisation can thrive having the captain undermine the coach and it is for this reason India continue to be inconsistent in the test arena - very good at home but often ordinary overseas. Their credibility has nobody has ever been doubted.

Anil Kumble has chose to step down from the office of India's cricket coach.

However, Kumble resigned before the team left London for the West Indies.

The former coach also wanted 20 per cent of the annual retainership fees of the players to be linked as "variable pay", according to which that particular percentage will be paid to a player, given he successfully manages his fitness levels during the year.

"His point of view is out there and we respect that decision", Kohli said in Port of Spain on Thursday, when asked to comment on Kumble's departure.

Along with Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and V.V.S Laxman, the other two members of the CAC, tried their best to help solve the impasse between Kumble and Kohli during the ICC Champions Trophy but a thaw could not be achieved. After Kumble-Kohli fiasco, it is CAC's duty that they make sure no such thing happens in future.

"That is what the whole team believes in". England continued to suffer in T20I and ODI series' as well losing them 2-1 respectively.

Earlier Kumble said that Virat Kohli reserved about his coaching style and there partnership was untenable as he did not accompany the side in the ongoing tour to West Indies.

Less than a year later, the Kohli- Kumble clash is out in the open, with a well-worded letter of resignation, throwing up several questions.

"It is no secret that skipper Virat Kohli wants Shastri back at the helm and Shastri was spoken to so that he applies for the interview process".
