Most members of Congress are not given a security detail but Bailey and Griner had been assigned to House Majority Whip Steve Scalise because he in a leadership position.
The U.S. Capitol Police, who fired back during Wednesday's Congressional baseball shooting, are being credited with saving lives.
President Donald Trump visited Griner and her wife in the hospital Wednesday evening.
Rep. Steve Scalise of Louisiana was shot. Griner and Dyar married in 2015.
"It is clear to me, based on various eyewitness accounts, that without these two heroes, Agent Bailey and Agent Griner, many lives would have been lost", said Ryan, who got a standing ovation from the House chamber. "She epitomized what being a hero's all about", Dine told CBS.
Meanwhile, Vice President Mike Pence also praised Griner and Bailey in a June 16 speech he made in Miami.
Bailey graduated from North Carolina Central University in Durham with a physical education degree in 2007, the university said in a statement.
"I've been in regular contact with some of Matt's family members and look forward to visiting Matt".
Bailey has been released from the hospital but Griner was still recovering late Wednesday.
"But for their heroism there's no question that there would have been much more carnage, no doubt about it, because no one else there was armed and this shooter was not only active but he was really unloading so many shots", said the congressman, still in his baseball clothes at Capitol Hill hours later. A biology major, Griner was a guard on the college basketball team and earned rookie of the year honors in 2003, according to a player profile provided by the school.
"Her heroic actions yesterday don't surprise me in the least", Robinson said. "Then someone yelled "shooter" and we knew that we were under assault".
"We saw two people risk their lives to save the lives of others", Williams said. The entertainment show spoke to him at the game.
"Every time there's an incident where a police officer has been injured, we all feel that pain", he said.
