White House seeks to wall off Russia questions

Trump has privately and publicly pinned much of the blame for his administration's rough start on the White House's communications strategy.

The White House has said such back channel communications are useful and discreet.

A top White House communications staffer has resigned as President Donald Trump considers overhauling his White House staff over frustrations that his team is struggling to contain the burgeoning crisis involving alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

Spicer channeled his boss as he declared that Trump's speech to leaders of more than 50 Arab and Muslim nations "was a historic turning point that people will be talking about for years to come" and "was met with almost universal praise".
