More than 50 people fell in a river when the Sanvardem Bridge collapsed on Thursday evening around 7 PM.
According to police some people managed to swim towards river bank at their own, while others were rescued.

The tragedy occurred after a crowd had assembled on the several decade-old bridge to watch an unidentified person attempt a suicide late on Thursday.
"The people, who were watching the rescue operation, were not only from the local village but numerous commuters had stopped to see what is happening", he said.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh mentioned in a tweet that he has spoken to Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
The rescue operation at the mishap site stopped after recovering three bodies.

The body of Prakash Ekka, 28, from Jharkhand was taken out by divers early on Friday, taking the death toll to two.
Locals said that there is no possibility of finding more bodies in the river. The fire and emergency services has begun the search operation.
Public Works Department minister Sudin Dhavalikar, who had rushed to the site, said the bridge was closed for use for the last four years. Soon, almost 40 persons gathered on the dilapidated bridge to witness efforts being made to rescue a struggling Wandal from the river, which led to a part of the bridge to collapse under the crfowd's weight, triggering a melee.
