'Surprised' by Democratic Backlash Over Comey's Firing

In an interview with Fox News' Jeanine Pirro that aired Saturday, Trump spoke about the influences of his brother, who died in 1981 at the age of 43.

"Let's say I did it on January 20, the opening, right?"

He added, "There's really no right time to do it, but I mean, I'm OK with it". Trump said he would allow the Congressional investigations to take their time because "I don't want it ever to be a question again", that there was no collusion. Comey "agrees that I have the right to do it".

Pressed by Pirro on whether he asked Comey for his loyalty, Trump responded: "No, I didn't, but I don't think it would be a bad question to ask".

"They didn't like him, they wanted him fired, or whatever, and then all of a sudden they come up with all these glowing reports".

Trump added that he thought the Democrats were "hypocrites" for their outrage at Comey's dismissal, saying they themselves were upset with Comey's handling of the investigation into Hillary Clinton's emails. "Another president, I won't use names but another president doesn't do what I'm doing - they really don't". "Because, all of the Democrats can not stand him".

Friday in a preview clip of an interview set to air Saturday night on Fox News Channel's "Justice", President Donald Trump said he was considering canceling the daily White House press briefings and replacing them with press conferences he does every two weeks.

Although Mr. Trump admitted the Democrats' reaction to Comey's firing could be boiled down to "look, it's politics", he said the Democrats said "we get some political points, we'll go against Trump". "Then that would have been the big story as opposed to the inauguration", Trump said.

"We owe it to the public to do it fairly quickly". He happily forecast the networks would be "very unhappy, because ratings are so high".

"I was going to fire Comey. Unless I have them every two weeks and do it myself, we don't have them".

Friday morning, President Trump tweeted, "James Comey better hope that there are no "tapes" of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!"

"You know, I mean it depends on how you define loyalty, number one". I think loyalty to the country, loyalty to the U.S., is important. "I think it's a good idea".

"Obamacare is dead. It's time".

Trump also had a sit down with NBC Nightly News' Lester Holt on Thursday, during which the president addressed his abrupt firing of FBI Director James Comey and said the move was his decision.

"Fred would be looking down and he would say, 'Keep going, ' and I would tell you if it were different", he added.

"I honestly believe people see it".
